Aamshotto also known as Amawat is a very popular and delicious mango product in Bangladesh. It is a leather type made by mixing the mango pulp with concentrated sugar solution and then dried in sunlight or some other way. Aamshotto is a traditional snack for most of the bangladeshi and Indians. 

It is a very luscious type of food which is liked by many people. It is a integral part of the kitchen in the Indian/Banglashi household, And is added as a supplement in preparing many indian/Bangladeshi dishes which increases the taste of the dishes. Aamsotto is mostly sweet, sourly in taste and also comes in different varieties.


Aamsotto is made by different procedures, firstly the pulp of mango is mixed with potassium metabisulphite and spread on trays to let it get dried on sunlight. After dring of first layer, again one layer of solution is spreaded over it. This process is repeated depending on the desired thickness and quality of the pulp used.

Then it is cut into different shapes and sizes and wrapped into different packages or in oil papers so that it can be preserved for longer period of time, which can give us the taste of mango in the off seasons also.
